Done for you:
Ongoing: I gave a presentation to a Chinese community (CIAC) in August, interviews to Ealing Gazette in March 2010, and to BBC London and BBC Chinese in April 2010 to spread our messages of youth priorities. I attended regional MYP meetings to lobby for support for delivering my manifesto. |

Letters to headteachers to arrange school surgeries (extract)
As an elected member of the UK Youth Parliament (MYP), I am undertaking a petition to urge the government to consider:
- reducing student debt by cutting college and university tuition fees or providing a 1-2 year tax holiday to fresh graduates (or a hybrid of them); and
- providing vouchers to students to use local gyms during school holidays. This proposal helps to resolve the anti-social behaviour and obesity problems. As I know it doing physical exercise also helps the youth make their mind more efficient, effective, stronger and clearer.
I believe the above investments in youths? education and health are what we want and can be easily recovered from growth in UK's productivity and wealth, and savings in dealing with youth crimes and obesity problems. In addition, in my experience some of my friends have been addicted to chatting on Facebook or browsing the internet. In most cases, this does not improve anything. I believe we should encourage the youth to do more sports during school holidays.
I am thinking of coming to your school to introduce my campaign and invite your students to support my petition to ask the Parliament/Government to consider and debate my campaign. Please confirm if you accept this proposition.
In addition, I would be grateful if you could ask students to participate in a survey for preparing UK Youth Parliament?s annual debate in the Commons Chamber on 29 October. It will be the second time the UK Youth Parliament has debated in the chamber. Commons Speaker John Bercow said he was delighted and "last year's event was a huge success for everyone concerned, ? (showing) that the House of Commons and the work that goes on here is relevant to (young people's) lives. I hope this year's debate and further similar events in this Parliament will go even further in helping to engage young people with politics." Young people simply need to take a couple of minutes to fill in the survey, choosing their top five topics from a list of 23. The survey can be done online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/W3BXFXZ.
